Sounding Out in Memphis

6/16/2015

Music has morphed into many genres these days.  Hip-hop has made it's way to main stream with it's very humble beginnings in Bronx, NY during the late '60's. Soul music or better know as Rhythm & Blues was the launching pad for hip-hop to reign supreme today.  However, let us not forget the history makers of our times as we recently lost another legend, BB King.  King's career began in Memphis has he worked at local radio station WDIA as a singer and disc jockey.  He acquired the "Beale Street Blues Boy" name which was then shortened to "Blues Boy" and eventually abbreviated to B.B. Mr. King will be honored during the scheduled live performances  in honor of the greats that began their careers on Memphis' famed Beale Street.

My old business partner, Oscar Robinson, founder of Platinum Productions is bringing the SOUNDS of MEMPHIS-A Live Stage Music Review to the Historic Daisy Theater, 329 Beale Street, Memphis Summer 2015.  Beale Street  will never be the same as a host of talented performers take the stage in tribute to some of Memphis’ legendary rhythm and blues artists such as Otis Redding, Staple Singers, Isaac Hayes, Al Green, of course BB KIng and many more. Musical artists whom have contributed to the soulful sounds of Memphis and indeed the world. Robinson has produced and is directing this energetic, sizzling-hot musical review as he also is one of Memphis’ own native sons. Robinson extracts the best an act has to offer as he’s done for decades with his extensive theatre, production and performance background.

These one-hour matinee presentations are jam-packed with live music and dancers paying homage to our legendary artists of R & B, the history of Beale Street and our host city of Memphis. Residents, visitors and natives alike are invited to join the festivities in honor of this Memphis musical heritage.  So the next time you're in Memphis take in a little history of the area and feel the rhythm of a beat that moves the world, SOUNDS of MEMPHIS-A Live Stage Music Review.

Performances are scheduled for Friday July 3rd & Saturday, July 11th; Saturdays, August 8th & 15th 2015 see somempho.com for show times, tickets, groups & senior rat
